The Hemet Police Department is hosting its first Coffee with a Cop event on Monday, February 12, at Starbucks at 889 W Florida Ave. Scheduled to run from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., this event presents a unique opportunity for Hemet residents to engage with police officers serving your community and Chief Michael Arellano. Officers from various units of the Hemet Police Department will be available to discuss the Department's resources and answer questions from the public.
On February 21, the Department will begin Class number 5 of the Citizens Academy. This program is designed to educate community members about the Hemet Police Department, featuring presentations from Officers across different units and bureaus. Participants will get an inside look at how the Department responds to calls for service, conducts investigations, and collaborates with the community to enhance safety in Hemet.
This iteration of the Citizens Academy will introduce a new component. Upon completion, participants who are interested in taking a more active role will have the opportunity to attend an extension program designed for those wishing to become police volunteers. This extension is also open to past academy attendees interested in volunteering with the police department.
