On September 4th, at about 5:09AM, Hemet Police received a 911 call from a neighbor in the 900 block of W. Johnston Avenue. The neighbor reported a possible burglary in progress. Officers raced to the scene and set up around the home.
The caller, who remained on the line as officers were sent to the call, told dispatchers that the homeowner was away at a funeral. With officers surrounding the home, they soon saw a suspect climbing out a bedroom window with a pillowcase of jewelry in hand.
The 20 year old suspect ran away toward Palm but was chased down by officers and taken into custody. Hemet Police Sergeant Eddie Pust said, "This was another great example of officers, dispatchers, and an alert neighbor all working together to put bad-guy in jail."
Arrested was Marquel Anthony Johnson from Hemet.
