On Friday, September 7th at about 11:00am, a 19 year old man approached a teller at Wells Fargo Bank (1100 E. Florida Ave) and demanded money. The teller activated a silent alarm and Hemet Police officers raced to the scene. As the teller stalled, the suspect became nervous and fled the bank.
Hemet PD officers, who were already on-scene, trailed the man along with at least one witness from the bank. The man ran north-bound on Laursen Street toward Hemet Valley Medical Center.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident and the investigation is continuing. Evidence was located both at the bank and near where the suspect was taken into custody. Anyone with information on this attempted bank robbery is urged to contact Hemet Police Detective Corporal Bob Nishida at 951 765-2400.
