Fatal Traffic Collision Suspect Arrested


On Monday, 09/11/2012, at about 2:37 am, Hemet Police responded to a call of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian in the 300 block of E. Florida Ave. Hemet Police found the pedestrian lying in the middle of the roadway unresponsive. Medical personnel arrived on scene minutes after and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The vehicle involved left the scene prior to police arriving and a witness described the vehicle as a small silver pick-up truck with possible front end damage.

On Friday, 09/14/2012, at about 2:30 pm, a Keith Christensen of Hemet, came into the Hemet Police Department and confessed to the fatal hit and run. Christensen’s 2004 silver Nissan Frontier pickup truck had severe frontend damage and was taken for evidence. Christensen was arrested for violations of Penal Code 192(c)(1), Vehicular Manslaughter and Vehicle Code 20001(a), Injury Hit and Run. Christensen was booked into the South West Detention Center with a $75,000.00 bail.
