Two Men Arrested Following Theft of Copper Wire
On 11/28/2012, at about 2:45am, a concerned citizen was in the west end of the city. This citizen has been made aware of several copper thefts that have been occurring around the Valley. City street lights and other electrical equipment have been ruined because of these thefts; costing tax-payers thousands of dollars.
The reporting party, who was approaching Warren Road, westbound on Florida Avenue toward Four Seasons, thought he saw the street lights near Warren and Devonshire go out. The witness drove to Warren and Devonshire and saw two suspicious males in the area. The witness then contacted Hemet Police and officers soon arrived in the area.
Hemet Police officers located the two subjects near the intersection of Warren and Devonshire. Officers located evidence that implicated these two as being involved in copper theft. A vehicle belonging to one of the two men was located some distance away. In the vehicle, officers found additional evidence of theft and several hundred feet of copper wire.
Arrested for Grand Theft:
Kevin St John, 44 years from Hemet.
Dennis Copeland,42 years from Hemet.
