[ARCHIVED] Hemet PD Recovers Stolen Cars Before Owners Realize They Are Gone

Ramon Guillen Hemet Police Arrest

On, 12-23-12, at approximately 2155 hours, officers responded to the area of Johnston Ave. and Kirby St., due to numerous calls of shots fired. As officers responded a brown Saturn was seen driving east bound from Elk St. on Johnston Ave. When the driver of the Saturn passed the officer he made a quick left turn into the mobile home tract. The officer attempted to locate the vehicle but it was gone. The officer drove back onto Johnston and began driving east towards Gilbert St. As the officer passed San Francisco he saw the Saturn come to an abrupt stop, southbound San Francisco at Johnston Ave. The driver then accelerated right in front of a vehicle traveling westbound, which collided into the driver’s side of the Saturn. The Officer made a u-turn and observed the suspect attempt to crawl out of the passenger window, in attempt to flee the scene. The suspect was detained and a shaved key was located in the ignition of the Saturn. The suspect had approximately 17 shaved keys on his person and was wearing a stolen police badge. Investigation revealed that the Saturn was stolen but had not yet been reported. The suspect was arrested for possession of stolen property however; due to injuries he received as a result of the traffic collision he caused, he was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Charges will be filed out of custody.

Arrested:
Samuel Jack Sala - 27 years of Hemet – possession of stolen property.

At approximately 0230 hours on 12/24/2012, Cpl. Mouat was conducting extra patrol in the area of 800 San Francisco St. reference information from citizens that criminal activity was occurring in the area. Cpl. Mouat noticed a white Pontiac Grand Am parked deep in a carport and noticed that several subjects were rummaging through it. As Cpl. Mouat placed his spot light on the vehicle several subjects took off running in different directions. Officers located 6 subjects inside the residence and later determined the vehicle had just been stolen from a residence on Las Flores St. in Hemet. Further investigation revealed the suspects had just burglarized an occupied residence on Las Flores and took some items from the residence, including the keys to the vehicle parked in the carport. It appeared that the suspects were unloading the vehicle when they were interrupted by the Officer. Four subjects were arrested.

Arrested:
Maricelas Delacerda, 33 years old of Hemet – Felony warrant / violation of probation
Melissa Vincent, 27 years old of Hemet – Possession of stolen property
Clayton Graves, 26 years old of Hemet – Misc. warrants – theft related
Ashley Mcelwain, 25 years old of Hemet – Warrant – under the influence of a controlled substance

In the early morning hours of Christmas Day, Officer Benjamin, was conducting extra patrol on the west end of Hemet. At about 0123 hours, Ofc. Benjamin observed a GMC Sierra P/U driving at a high rate of speed westbound in the 3800 W. Devonshire Ave. Ofc. Benjamin then observed the P/U pass a vehicle on the left. Ofc. Benjamin attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the P/U turned off its lights as soon as the officer turned on his emergency lights. The P/U accelerated west bound on Devonshire failing to stop at posted stop signs. A pursuit was initiated that wound through parts of the north west end of the city, reaching speeds of up to 100 MPH. Ultimately the vehicle yielded in the area of Serenity St. and Provence St. and the driver was taken into custody without incident. Investigation revealed that the vehicle had just been stolen but had not yet been reported.

Ramon Guillen, 25 years old of Hemet – possession of stolen property and felony evasion.
