Burglar Caught!
On 01/18/2013 at about 12:45 am, Hemet Police Dispatch received a call of a burglary that had just occurred in the 1000 block of Burton Street. The victims reported hearing noises inside their home and when they looked around the home, they noticed their flat screen television missing.
Officers responded to the home and discovered that at least one suspect had removed the screens from several of the home’s rear windows and entered the home through a kitchen window. The suspect(s) stole a large flat screen television and some electronic items then exited through the rear sliding glass door. While the officers were searching the home for evidence, additional officers searched the surrounding area for the suspects.
At about 1:04 am, Canine Officer Maddox and Officer Snell saw a male subject carrying a large flat screen television northbound in the 800 block of Arbor Parkway. When the officers attempted to contact the subject, he set down the television and fled on foot northbound on Arbor Parkway to westbound on Juniper Street. The officers gave chase and ultimately took the subject into custody with the assistance of Police canine ‘Rosco.’
Further investigation revealed that the television the subject had been carrying was in fact, the television that had been stolen from the home on Burton Street. Additional evidence located at the scene confirmed that the subject that had been carrying the television had been inside the Burton Street home.
The subject that was arrested is a juvenile and his name is being withheld due to his age.
