Robbery at Local Jewelry Store
On January 28, 2013 at about 6:37 pm, the City of Hemet dispatch center began receiving calls of a robbery in progress at a jewelry store located inside the Hemet Valley Mall. As the initial units were responding, a witness saw the suspects flee the scene and was able to provide a partial description of the suspect vehicle. Additional units flooded the area searching for the suspects and the vehicle but were unable to locate them.
The initial investigation revealed that four male suspects that were wearing masks ran into the store and smashed several glass display cases with hammers. The suspects took several jewelry items and fled the store. There were two employees working in the store at the time, but no one was hurt during the robbery. The suspects were in the store for about nine seconds before running to the waiting ‘get away’ vehicle. The suspect vehicle was described as an older, dark blue, Honda Civic 4-door.
