Alert Homeowner Catches Burglars
On 01/29/2013 at about 10:12 am., the City of Hemet Police Dispatch Center received a call from a home owner about a burglary in progress. The home owner told dispatch that two black males were attempting to break into her home in the 400 block of N. Yale Street.
City of Hemet Police Officers began flooding the area while the home owner remained on the phone with dispatch, providing updates on the suspect’s descriptions and movements. As the first officers arrived, the suspects fled the scene, jumping through yards and running down adjoining streets. Officers quickly formed a perimeter and began searching the area for the suspects. With the assistance of citizens in the area, the Officers located the suspects hiding in an apartment complex in the 100 block of N. Yale St. and detained them without incident. The suspects were positively identified as the suspects attempting to break into the home.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects attempted to gain entry through the front of the home and then jumped into the back yard and tried to break into a rear bathroom window.
Both suspects are juveniles and their names are being withheld.
