Citizen Information Helps Catch Another Burglar
On 01/31/2013 at about 5:10 pm, an anonymous citizen called the City of Hemet Police Dispatch Center to report that he had just seen two black males exit a home in the 600 block of S. Buena Vista Street. The reporting party related that the males were not associated with the home and that the homeowners were not home. The reporting party advised that the suspects were last seen walking south on Buena Vista Street.
As the first officers arrived in the area, they saw the suspects flee in separate directions. The officers gave chase but were too far away from the suspects so they coordinated a perimeter with the other incoming units. Ultimately one of the suspects was located in the 400 block of Morningside and he was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was in possession of an unregistered firearm as well as some stolen property from the Buena Vista home. The second suspect was not located.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects jumped into the back yard of the home and forced entry through a sliding glass door. The suspects then ransacked the home.
The suspect that was arrested is a 17 year old juvenile and his name is being withheld. He was transferred to Juvenile Hall.
