[ARCHIVED] Wanted Felon Leads Police on a Pursuit

Police Pursuit Hemet Arrest Collision

Wanted Felon Leads Police on a Pursuit.

On Wednesday February 27, 2013 at about 4:56 pm., the City of Hemet Police Dispatch Center received a call of a verbal dispute involving a male suspect parked in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 500 block of E. Fruitvale Ave. The reporting party advised dispatch that the suspect was refusing to leave and that he is known to carry weapons. The reporting party was able to provide the suspect’s name, physical description, and vehicle description. A check of the suspect’s name revealed that he was a wanted felon for weapons charges and a PRCS (Post Release County Supervision / AB109) violation.

The first officer to arrive on scene encountered the suspect sitting in the described vehicle and attempted to contact him. The suspect refused the officer’s commands to show his hands and sped off in the vehicle. The officer initiated a vehicle pursuit and the suspect led the officer through north east portions of the City of Hemet and into the City of San Jacinto at speeds reaching approximately 50 MPH.

Ultimately the pursuit traveled north on Hewitt St., approaching Esplanade Ave. and the suspect drove into the southbound lanes of Hewitt St., before driving through a red signal at Esplanade Ave. The suspect’s vehicle collided into two vehicles on Esplanade Ave. which disabled the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect then got out of the vehicle and fled on foot, jumping walls and running through yards. The pursuing officer was able to catch and take the suspect into custody a short distance later.

Medical aid was summoned for all of the involved parties and the driver of one of the vehicles the suspect struck was transported to a local hospital for possible internal injuries. The suspect was also transported to a local hospital for complaint of pain from the traffic collision he caused. Since the collision itself occurred in the City of San Jacinto, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded to investigate the collision.

Arrested: Ivan Turner, 31 year old, Moreno Valley resident.
Charges: Felony warrant – Weapons Charges, Felony Warrant – PRCS Violation, Felony Evasion, and giving a False Name to a Police Officer.
