[ARCHIVED] Arrest Made in Stabbings

Stabbings Arrest Hemet Police Marquez

Stabbing Suspect Arrested

On 05/09/2013 at about 11:30 am, the Hemet Police Dispatch Center received multiple calls about a stabbing in the 200 block of N. Alessandro Street. Hemet Police Officers arrived on scene quickly and learned that an unknown suspect kicked open the front door of a home and stabbed a male and female who were inside the home. The suspect then fled in a white car. Both victims were taken by ambulance to a local hospital and are expected to recover. Hemet Police Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation.

On 05/09/2013 at about 11:50 am, another stabbing victim entered the emergency room at Hemet Valley Medical Center. Hospital staff contacted the Hemet Police Department and officers responded to investigate. Officers learned that this stabbing took place near the 800 block of W. Devonshire Avenue. The victim of this incident was approached in an alleyway by the suspect, and stabbed multiple times. The suspect then fled in a white vehicle. The victim of this stabbing is expected to survive as well.

Initial investigation suggested that the same suspect may have been responsible for both incidents, and that he may be driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen from the area earlier that day.

The suspect and vehicle information was shared with police departments statewide and at about 4:30 pm. deputies from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department located the vehicle. The deputies detained the driver of the vehicle and Hemet Police Detectives responded to arrest the suspect. The suspect was returned to Hemet where the investigation continued.

Ultimately, the suspect was charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of theft a vehicle. The suspect was transported to the Riverside County Jail.

This was another great example of what can be accomplished through the collaborative efforts of citizens and multiple law enforcement agencies.

Arrested:
Johnathan Marquez, 28 year old Moreno Valley resident.
Three counts of attempted murder, one count of theft of a vehicle. Bail: $3,000,000.00
