Call from alert citizen leads to arrests for a
large quantity of narcotics and a gun.
On Monday, 6/10/2013, at about 0740 hours, Hemet Police Dispatch received a call about two suspicious subjects in the 600 block of Zinnia Street. The caller advised that two males were walking around the residence. Officer Spoelstra was the first officer to arrive and he contacted a Rene Sandoval standing in front of an open garage door at the residence. Officer Spoelstra had previously received information that Sandoval may be armed with a handgun and selling methamphetamine. Officer Spoelstra attempted to detain Sandoval and a struggle ensued. Ultimately Sandoval was detained and it was discovered that he was in possession of a concealed firearm and over 100 grams of suspected Methamphetamine.
Officers learned that Sandoval was staying in a nearby hotel room and continued their investigation by following up at the hotel. Ultimately three more suspects were arrested and an additional 300+ grams of suspected Methamphetamine were seized.
The total amount of Methamphetamine seized has an estimated street value of over $50,000.00.
Subjects Arrested:
1. Rene Sandoval, 35 year old San Jacinto resident.
Charges: Possession of a controlled substance for sales, possession of a loaded, concealed firearm, and felon in possession of a firearm.
2. John Marks, 22 year old Hemet resident.
Charges: Possession of a controlled substance for sales
3. Jessica Maquinales, 37 year old Hemet resident.
Charges: 2 misdemeanor warrants out of Riverside County.
4. Imelda Ybanez, 37 year old Hemet resident.
Charges: 2 misdemeanor warrants out of Riverside County
