[ARCHIVED] Pair Arrested Following Pursuit

Hemet Police Arrest Pursuit Suspects

At about 8:00 AM today, Hemet Officers received a Lo-Jack vehicle anti-theft signal near Girard Street and Florida Avenue. They began looking for the vehicle and found it near Buena Vista Street and Thornton Avenue. Officers saw two suspects get in and drive away. They followed the vehicle, a white 1993 Acura for several blocks and HPD dispatch confirmed the car was stolen out of Lake Elsinore. Before the second unit could arrive, the driver took off, and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit headed in a north/east direction throughout the city. The driver fled to the City of San Jacinto, where he abandoned the car near Evans Street and Los Rosas Road. Both the driver and his female passenger ran away on foot, jumping fences as they ran. Both suspects were quickly taken into custody by officers.

Arrested:

Richard Vega, 33 years, of Hemet

Charges: Possession of stolen property, felony evasion, parole hold. No Bail

Jennifer Hernandez, 27 years, of San Jacinto

Charges: Possession of stolen property, $5000 Bail
