UPDATE

This is updated information regarding yesterday’s press release about incident occurring in the 3100 block of Warley Rd. in Hemet.

Johnson is on AB109 probation, had a prior dating relationship with the victim, and had previously served time in state prison for assaulting the victim. The victim did have an active domestic violence restraining order against the suspect. Police are researching the circumstances under which Johnson was released from his most recent prison term as well as the severity of the charges he was convicted of and incarcerated for in that case. Capt. Rob Webb said, “He certainly does not seem to fit the criteria of a non-violent offender under AB109, we will be looking into the manner in which he was released from prison.”

Originally, officers detained two subjects at the scene and after the initial investigation released one of them after determining he was uninvolved with the incident. Please see the original press release for further details.
