On 09-17-13 at about 2:08am, Hemet Police Officer Matthew Hiatt conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration. Officer Hiatt noticed an empty holster on the subject’s belt. After further investigation, it was learned the driver had stashed a .25 semi-auto handgun inside his female passenger's purse.
The handgun was located and collected. The driver was arrested for being a convicted felon with a firearm, possession of loaded firearm in public, and possession of concealed firearm in public. The driver was transported to Hemet Police Department and then to Riverside County Jail. The female passenger was also transported to HPD and later released.
