On 2-29-2012 at about 03:41 am, Hemet Police Dispatch received a call from a home in the 1500 block of W. Oakland Avenue regarding a burglary in progress. The elderly female caller stated two suspects were inside her home rummaging through her living room. Dispatch kept her on the phone while police units responded. The units coordinated a perimeter and once it was in place, two officers entered the park to make contact. The two officers quickly found one suspect inside the park, fleeing from the residence.
Investigation revealed that at least one suspect entered the mobile home by forcing open the kitchen window. Once inside, the suspect(s) ransacked the home taking numerous items and staging them on the front patio. The suspect(s) also entered the victim’s bedroom and went through their dresser drawers while the victims slept a few feet away. At one point the victim’s husband woke up and walked out to the living room, causing the suspect to flee.
The suspect that was detained fleeing from the residence was in possession of a large amount of stolen property including jewelry, electronics equipment, and cash. All property stolen was recovered and identified by the victim.
The suspect may also be involved with some burglaries in the City of Murrieta and Murrieta Police Detectives are coordinating their efforts with Hemet Police Detectives.
Arrested: Alexander Mettey, 19 years old a resident of Murrieta.
