[ARCHIVED] Stolen Vehicle + Pursuit = Trip to Jail

Jorge Jimenez Pursuit Arrest Hemet Police PD Stolen Vehicle

On 11/18/13 at about 1:12am, Hemet Police Officer Matt Hiatt attempted a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet pick-up truck for failing to stop at a posted stop sign in the area of Western and Florida Avenue.

Upon initiating the traffic stop the vehicle fled e/b Florida to N/B Palm then W/B Latham; failing to stop at both the red turn arrow and posted stop signs. The vehicle traveled w/b at approximately speeds of 75 MPH. The vehicle then turned n/b onto Gilmore and then quickly left into the Hemet Valley Mall.

The suspect drove over a curb into a planter which disabled the vehicle. The suspect then fled the vehicle on foot, with Officer Hiatt following. Officer Hiatt was able to take the suspect into custody on the north side of the Sears Service Center.

The vehicle had been reported stolen to RSO in Temecula. The suspect was transported to HPD and booked into the jail, then later transported to Riverside County Jail.

Arrested: Joaquin Jimenez, 28 year old resident of Homeland.

Charges: Possession of Stolen Vehicle, Felony Pursuit, Resisting Arrest, and Probation Violation.
