[ARCHIVED] Arrest Made in Assault Case

HPD Arrest Made in Assault Case

Woman Assaulted, Suspect Arrested, Police Seeking Information

On 04/17/2014 at approximately 3:11am, Officers from the Hemet Police Department received a call at 800 W. Oakland Ave. regarding a female resident that had been attacked in her residence. Upon arrival officers learned that the victim had been asleep in her residence when she was awakened and assaulted by intruders. The victim was later transported to the hospital where she remains in stable, but critical, condition in the ICU.

Officers conducted an extensive area search which included the use of a bloodhound; however, they were unable to locate the suspects in the area. Based on evidence located in the surrounding area it appears that the suspects had also committed several acts of vandalism prior to entering the victim’s residence. The investigations bureau responded and took over the investigation.

Information obtained during the investigation led detectives to focus on a 15 year old juvenile suspect. At approximately 9:00pm, on 4/17/2014 Hemet Detectives and Officers from the Hemet/San Jacinto Gang Task Force located the suspect in the 1000 block of N. State St. in Hemet. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended after a brief struggle with officers. The suspect was later transported to Riverside County Juvenile hall in French Valley

The incident is still an active investigation and the Hemet Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance with the case. We are asking that anyone with information about this case, or any suspicious activity that they may have observed during the early morning hours in the area of Palm Ave and Oakland Ave, to please contact Detective Doug Klinzing at 765-2423.
