Water produced at a City of Hemet well tested slightly over acceptable standards for nitrates in drinking water. The standard for acceptable levels of nitrates is 45 parts per million. The City exceeded that standard by two parts per million, with test results indicating 47 parts per million. The wells producing the unacceptable nitrate levels have been shut down and will remain out of service until the City receives testing results that meet standards and the California Department of Public Health has again approved the wells for use.
Due to the test results, the Department of Public Health requires that the City provide the following notice to our customers. If you have any questions regarding your water or this notice, please contact the Public Works Department at 951-765-3710.
