Re: Hemet ROCS – Project HOPE Update
Contact: Dep. Chief Rob Webb – 951-765-2411
During the first week of April, the Hemet Police Department assigned two officers to the ROCS (Restoring Our Community Strategy) Team. This ROCS Team is funded by a three year grant that was awarded by the United States Department of Justice, Community Oriented Policing Services Office. The goal of the ROCS Team and focus of the grant was to target quality of life issues that are concentrated around the department’s Florida First and Project H.O.P.E. (Hemet’s Option for Policing Excellence) initiatives. The ROCS Team and Hemet patrol officers conducted prostitution sweeps and surveillance on Florida Avenue.
Chief Dave Brown said, “This grant and program is a critical piece of our law enforcement effort to restore the Florida Avenue corridor. The officers have done some great work; I hope the public has noticed a difference.”
