Hemet Police Officer Delivers His Own Son While On-Duty
On July 13, 2014, at about 3:45 am, on-duty Hemet Police Officer Bryan Anderson received a phone call from his pregnant wife, Holly, saying she was in labor and he needed to respond home. Officer Anderson arrived at his home a short time later and his wife advised that she didn’t think she was going to make it to the hospital.
Officer Anderson called in for medical assistance but prior to it arriving, he delivered a healthy baby boy in the bathroom of his home at 3:53 am. Holly and the baby were then transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
Officer Anderson said, “I wasn’t worried, it just happened so fast and the cord was around his neck so I pulled it around his head.” The baby, Michael Joseph Anderson, weighed in at 7 lbs. 11oz. and 18 inches long. He is named after his Great-Grandfather.
Chief Dave Brown said, “We are really proud of Bryan, even though I’m certain Holly did all the work. We are a family oriented department but this is taking it a little too far. I can remember the day Bryan was born, at least his dad (former Hemet PD Sergeant Jim Anderson), had the good sense to take his mom to the hospital!”
Both Michael and Holly should be home soon.
We are eager to welcome him into the HPD Family.
