Vehicle Pursuit Leads to Large Drug Arrest.
On July 7th, 2015 at about 17:16 pm, a Hemet Police Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation in the 2500 block of West Florida Avenue. The vehicle sped away and pursuit was initiated. The vehicle was occupied by the driver and passenger who led officers on a chase through the cities of Hemet, San Jacinto and Valle Vista, with speeds reaching approximately 60 mph.
The pursuit ended in the 300 block of South Santa Fe Street when the vehicle stopped just prior to running over spike strips that were deployed by another Hemet Police Officer. The driver remained in the vehicle as the passenger fled the vehicle carrying a backpack. The passenger was apprehended shortly after and the backpack was found to be containing over 3 pounds of methamphetamine, with a street value of approximately $16,000.
The driver and passenger were arrested on multiple charges and both were later transported to the Riverside County Jail.

Charges:
Violation of Felony Probation, Possession/Transportation of Methamphetamine, Felony Evasion.

$200,000 bail on each subject
