[ARCHIVED] Home Invasion Suspects Arrested

Home Invasion Suspect

Home Invasion Robbery Suspects Captured

On 07/27/12 at approximately 0827 hours, the Hemet Police Department Communications Center received a call from an elderly female from the 2100 block of Garland Way, Hemet, Ca, advising she was a victim of a home invasion robbery. She advised that her roommate, Audie Arthur, was forced to tie her up and cover her mouth while the suspect held a weapon to Arthur’s neck. Approximately an hour later when she thought the masked suspect had left, the victim escaped from her restraints. She realized that several electronic items, currency, and her vehicle were stolen from her home. The elderly victim also believed that Arthur was possibly kidnapped by the suspect. Hemet PD officers responded to the scene within minutes, but the suspect, Arthur, and the vehicle were gone. Hemet PD detectives also responded and took over the investigation. The victim did not sustain any serious injuries.

At approximately 1214 hours, Hemet PD detectives received information that the stolen vehicle was in the 1900 block of Teco Drive in the city of San Jacinto. Investigators and officers from this agency responded to the location and located the stolen vehicle to be unoccupied. During the investigation, officers learned that the suspect(s) had been seen going into a residence in the 2000 block of Tudor Drive, which was next to where the vehicle was parked. The officers made contact with the residents at that location and obtained consent to search the residence. Arthur, who was believed to have been kidnapped, was found hiding in the garage with the keys to the victim's vehicle and other stolen property in his possession. Terrance Grayson, who was inside the residence, was initially arrested for an unrelated warrant. It was discovered that Arthur and Grayson were seen exiting the stolen vehicle earlier in the morning.

After several hours of follow up investigation and interviews, investigators learned that Arthur and Grayson conspired to stage a home invasion robbery with Grayson as the “suspect” and Arthur as the kidnap “victim.” Arthur had planned to sell the stolen vehicle and flee out of state. A search at Grayson’s residence resulted in the recovery of the remaining stolen property.
