[ARCHIVED] CRITICAL SAFETY ADVISEMENT - Stetson Bridge Weight Limits

CRITICAL SAFETY ADVISEMENT

Stetson Bridge Weight Limits

August 24, 2017

Dear Residents and Business Owners,

The City of Hemet would like to remind all residents and business owners of the importance of adhering to all posted weight limit restrictions. Specifically at Stetson Bridge located on Stetson Avenue between Cawston Avenue and Warren Road the posted weight limits are as follows:

Truck (Two axle truck) -- 3 ton

Semi-Trailer Combination (Three Axle) -- 5 ton

Truck and Full Trailer (Four Axle Truck) -- 6 ton

Vehicles at or exceeding these limitations may not utilize the bridge as they present a significant potential for damage to the bridge, including structural failure and collapse which would result in injury to persons and property.

The City of Hemet Police Department and partnering agencies will be strictly enforcing these weight restrictions. If applicable please inform your drivers and/or suppliers to adhere to the posted weight limits for Stetson Bridge or use an alternate route.

A City Capital Improvement Project is expected to begin construction of a bridge replacement in the second quarter of 2018.

Thank you.

Nino Abad, P.E.
Acting City Engineer
City of Hemet
