Riverside County residents with backyard chickens, and people with other birds, should take steps to protect the animals from Virulent Newcastle disease. The disease has been identified in Riverside County and this demonstrates the need for precautions and continued vigilance. All of western Riverside County and the Coachella Valley is under regional quarantine and state officials emphasize that “birds should not be moved in or out of the regional area quarantine and a premises (residence) that has been placed under an additional quarantine.”
