Part of the City's Strategic Plan is the task of improving opportunity for businesses and community members that choose to make Hemet their home. The City team will actively pursue federal, State, and grant funding opportunities that align with and help the City achieve the goals set by the City Council.
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program supports community development activities to build stronger and more resilient communities. To support community development, activities are identified through an ongoing process. Activities may address needs such as infrastructure, economic development projects, public facilities installation, community centers, housing rehabilitation, public services, clearance/acquisition, microenterprise assistance, code enforcement, homeowner assistance, etc.
As part of the $362 billion in federal fiscal recovery aid for state and local governments, $65.1 billion was provided in direct aid to counties and an additional $1.5 billion for public land counties. The American Rescue Plan Act also allocates hundreds of billions of dollars for public health and vaccines, assistance for vulnerable populations, education and housing stabilization, economic recovery assistance and direct assistance for families and individuals. The City of Hemet was allocated approximately $22 million.
