Hemet RISES Economic Development Strategy

The Hemet City Council unanimously approved the City's new economic strategy, Hemet RISES (Resurgent Investment Strategy for Economic Success). The City's strategy promotes business retention and expansion, positions Hemet for strategic investments, and ensures a business-friendly development experience.

The Hemet RISES Economic Strategy outlines a three-pronged approach focusing on Place, People, and Process to drive economic prosperity. These initiatives aim to enhance the City's infrastructure, attract new businesses, and create a vibrant community atmosphere.

Key components of the strategy include:

  • Place: Catalizying projects like the build-out of the Hemet Auto Mall, the launch of a Restaurant Grant Program for downtown dining, and the expansion of the Historic Hemet Theatre.
  • People: Engaging the community through events like Restaurant Week and a Music, Arts, and Culinary Festival while updating the City's branding to attract residents and visitors.
  • Process: Streamlining the development and permitting processes to create a more business-friendly environment and introducing innovative programs like a Youth Pre-Apprenticeship Program at City Hall.

The strategy also includes plans to support the expansion of the healthcare sector, promote public art through the Arts in Public Places Program, and improve the City's visual appeal with initiatives like the Façade Improvement Grant Program. The Hemet RISES Strategy aligns with the City Council's broader Strategic Plan goals of improving the quality of life, boosting economic opportunities, fostering community engagement, and ensuring organizational effectiveness within the City government.
