What Is Electronic Waste?
Electronic waste (E-waste) is anything that ever had a battery or a plug such as computers, cell phones, monitors, VCR's, TV's, stereos, and more. These items can not be disposed of in the trash. You may contact CR&R at (800) 755-8112 for a special pick up of your E-waste. Riverside County also conducts several household hazardous waste collection events each year. Please visit their website for a current schedule and locations.
Why Recycle E-Waste?
E-waste is the most rapidly growing segment of the municipal waste stream. It contains many valuable, recoverable materials such as aluminum, ferrous metals, copper, gold, and silver. In order to conserve natural resources and the energy needed to produce new electronic equipment from raw resources, electronic equipment should be refurbished, reused, and recycled whenever possible. E-waste also contains toxic and hazardous waste materials including mercury, lead, cadmium, beryllium, chromium, antimony, and many other chemicals.
