Are you ready to showcase your home and help make Hemet even more beautiful? The City has launched a Hemet Beautification Contest, an exciting opportunity for residents and businesses to beautify their properties and contribute to the vibrancy of our City.

There will be seven winners in total: Two citywide winners (one residential and one commercial) receiving $1,000 each and five Council-District winners (one per district) receiving $1,000 each.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking beautification efforts involving landscaping, painting, or simply transforming properties into inviting and visually striking spaces. Here's what we're looking for:

  1. Curb Appeal: We're looking for properties that exude curb appeal and make a positive first impression. Curb appeal refers to the attractiveness of a property as viewed from the street or curb. Curb appeal significantly creates a positive first impression for visitors, passersby, and potential buyers or renters. Homes or businesses with high curb appeal often feature well-maintained landscapes, clean and inviting entryways, attractive architectural details, and visually appealing exterior colors or materials. From well-maintained lawns and gardens to attractive front entrances, curb appeal is crucial in creating a welcoming atmosphere for residents and visitors alike. 
  2. Creative Landscaping: Show off your green thumb and get creative with landscaping! Whether adding colorful flower beds, planting native species, or incorporating unique hardscape elements, we encourage participants to think outside the box and infuse their landscapes with personality and charm.
  3. Architectural Enhancements: Enhancing properties' architectural features can greatly enhance their overall appeal. Consider additions like decorative trim, window boxes, or exterior lighting to elevate the look of your home or business.
  4. Sustainability: Sustainable practices are crucial to creating lasting beauty in our community. Participants are encouraged to incorporate eco-friendly elements such as drought-tolerant landscaping, rainwater harvesting systems, or solar-powered lighting into their beautification projects.

Contest Rules

  1. Participants must be residents of the City of Hemet and within the city limits to be eligible to enter the contest. 
  2. Beautification efforts, whether residential or commercial, must comply with relevant municipal codes and regulations, including those related to property maintenance, landscaping, signage, and outdoor displays.
  3. All beautification projects must be submitted within the designated contest period, May 8 - August 4.
  4. By submitting entries, participants grant permission for their photos or videos to be used for promotional purposes related to the contest, such as social media posts, website features, or press releases.
  5. Council District Voting: City Council members will judge their City's District and select winners.
  6. Citywide Voting: The citywide judging will be conducted by city designated Mayor and Council Liaison. 
  7. Prize winners will be notified via the contact information provided at the time of entry. Prizes will be awarded in a timely manner following the conclusion of the contest period.
  8. The organizing committee reserves the right to modify contest rules, procedures, or deadlines if necessary, and any such changes will be communicated to participants in a timely manner.
